Minimally invasive surgery such as laparoscopy allows for diagnosis and treatment of pathologies by making very small incisions.
After a laparoscopy the animal will have 2 or 3 small incisions as entry wounds on their abdomen measuring 5 to 10mm. The incisions allow a camera or necessary instruments to pass into the abdominal cavity. This largerly decreases the post-operative pain and allows the animal to be much more comfortable, allowing for a much quicker recovery.
